Dr. Heinz Willebrand, Co-founder and CEO

Heinz is co-founder of Rayawave and is an internationally known and respected expert in last mile communications.  Previous to Rayawave, Heinz was founder and CTO of LightPointe communications.  As the CTO, he provided the global technology roadmap and actively directed the product development of the company's free space optical product portfolio.  During his tenure at LightPointe, he was key in raising more than US$80 million in venture capital funding from private and institutional investors.


Heinz is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences on topics related to technology and business models for wireless last mile access.  He holds more than 10 national and international patents on fiber-optics and wireless technologies.  He has published more than 70 articles in technology and business journals  and is the co-author of a book on free space optical technology.
He obtained his Ph.D in applied physics at the University of Muenster/Germany and has held research and teaching positions with the University of Muenster and the University of Colorado in Boulder.

John Taylor, Co-founder and VP of Sales
John is co-founder and with over 25 years in high-tech sales has proven himself as a leader in last mile relationships for enterprise, carrier and government  customers.  John spent many years in various executive roles at LightPointe, Aironet (Cisco), Tektronix and Motorola developing channel strategy and key customer business development in the United States and abroad. These efforts have lead to over $300 million in sales across multiple product lines.

Chris Dorny, VP of Marketing
Chris has more than 17 years of domestic and international experience in the introduction and development of new technologies for consumer and telecommunications industries. Prior to Rayawave, Dorny was Vice President and General Manager for Ethertronics, an internal antenna developer where he was instrumental in the global development of the company leading the company to the INC 500 fastest growing companies.  Prior to Ethertronics, Dorny was director of business development and product management for optical wireless startup LightPointe, where he was instrumental in developing the carrier business. He also led the mobile wireless team and handled all worldwide trials. Prior to LightPointe, Dorny held various executive engineering and product management positions at IBM (Aptiva Group), Calient Networks, and ADC Telecommunications. ADC chose Dorny for the Future Leadership Development Program, where he managed business development for the hybrid fiber coax unit at the company's European headquarters in Spain. Dorny also founded Turbotrax Inc, an R&D company that develops innovative solutions for the extreme sports industry. Dorny holds a BSEE from Brigham Young University.

Bill Peavey,  CFO

Bill Peavey has more than 27 years' experience as both a CEO and CFO with technology companies ranging in size from startups to companies with revenues of $125 million, providing extensive executive management and financial leadership.

Before joining Rayawave, Bill was a CFO/CEO consultant to a number of technology start-ups as well as a division of a publicly held company. Before that, he served as president and CEO of NurLogic Design, a designer of high value-add mixed signal and analog intellectual property; vice president, CFO, and secretary/treasurer for Peregrine Semiconductor, responsible for all accounting, finance, human resource, IT, and corporate secretary functions for this integrated circuit developer.

Other highlights of Bill’s illustrious career include positions as senior vice president, CFO, and secretary/treasurer for Brooktree Corporation, a $120 million supplier of mixed-signal integrated circuits for graphics, imaging, communications, and ATE applications; senior vice president, CFO, secretary/treasurer, and board member of Monitor Technologies; and controller and assistant treasurer for the prestigious Salk Institute.
