LightPointe communications and Rayawave announce merger

San Diego, CA – December 9, 2008 – Today LightPointe Communications, Inc., a designer and the worldwide leading supplier of free space optical (FSO) communications solutions, and Rayawave, Inc., an innovator of outdoor gigabit wireless millimeter-wave (MMW) point to point radio solutions, announced to merge business operation. Both companies provide networking of the growing market segment of gigabit wireless outdoor bridging solutions for enterprise campus networks, metropolitan area access, and high capacity backhaul for next generation mobile wireless LTE and WIMAX networks. The complementary nature of FSO and MMW technology allows the combined entity to provide customers with an extended range of solutions for inexpensive wireless and full duplex gigabit ethernet connectivity ranging from less than 100 feet all the way to several miles in distance.     

The merger will be completed by the end of the year and the company will continue operations from the LightPointe headquarters in San Diego.  The company will be headed by Heinz Willebrand, the current Rayawave CEO & President. Lorian Sanders, LightPointe’s General Manager, will take the role of Vice President of Finance and maintain her function as General Manager overseeing daily operations.
